ICLAC 2024 Fall Vaccine Forum
The ICLAC Fall Vaccine Forum was held on October 3rd at the California Endowment in Los Angeles. Presentations included a review of ICLAC grant initiatives in 2023-2024, Avian Influenza updates and 2024-2025 vaccine recommendations for COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV, as well as an engaging panel discussion on vaccine equity strategies and best practices. Our colleagues at UC San Diego and San Diego State University are conducting a survey with clinical office staff (Licensed Vocational Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Medical Assistants) in California pediatric/family practice settings about their experience with and beliefs about childhood immunizations, including the HPV vaccine. This important study will identify opportunities to improve HPV vaccination rates statewide.

The California Bridge Access Program (CA BAP) offers free COVID-19 vaccines to uninsured and underinsured adults 19+ during the 2024-2025 respiratory season.
Provider participation, eligibility, and requirements remain unchanged. Agreements are automatically extended—no action is needed.

CDC Health Update (September 23, 2024) on Prevention Strategies for Mpox, including Vaccinating People at Risk via Sexual Exposure, for U.S. Travelers Visiting Countries with Clade I Mpox Outbreaks offers guidance on vaccinating individuals at risk via sexual exposure while visiting countries with Clade I Mpox outbreaks. It includes updated vaccine recommendations for those anticipating sexual activity, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, in affected regions of Africa.

Webinar: Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices
October 23rd and 24th 5am-2:30pm
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is charged with advising the Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), on the use of immunizing agents. In addition, under 42 U.S.C. 1396s, the Committee is mandated to establish and periodically review and, as appropriate, revise the list of vaccines for administration to vaccine-eligible children through the Vaccines for Children program, along with schedules regarding dosing interval, dosage, and contraindications to administration of vaccines.
