ICLAC Hosts a Cultural Validation Training on 5/29/24:

Julissa Soto, CEO of Latino Health Equity Consulting and ICLAC Steering Committee Member, led a Cultural Validation Training for local Community Health Workers and Promotoras. The training focused on fostering a better understanding of the social determinants of health impacting the South L.A. community and developing strategies for addressing vaccine hesitancy.

Welcome Fair Community Event on 5/25/24

Keri Hurley-Kim, (ICLAC Steering Committee Chair), Julissa Soto (ICLAC Steering Committee Member), Michelle Vazquez Godinez (CDC Public Health Associate with LA County Department of Public Health), and Elements Pharmacy attended the Welcome Fair 2024 hosted by Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project at Los Angeles City College to promote upcoming community vaccine events, share resources., and administer vaccines.


Visit ICLAC’s Where to Get Vaccinated page for which routine and recommended vaccines are needed for you or a family member, how to find a vaccination clinic near you, or request in-home vaccination. Information provided is for all routine and recommended vaccines throughout the lifespan including COVID-19 and flu.

Visit LA County Library to register for your free in person vaccine. LA County Library is partnering with LA County Department of public health to provide free flu vaccines and the updated 2023-24 COVID-19 vaccine to people 6 months of age and older. No health insurance is required.

Routine and recommended vaccinations are an important way to ensure that your family and community remain healthy and protected against serious diseases which are preventable. Call 211 or visit 211LA to find a vaccine location near you!


LA County News Update

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has been notified of one case of measles in a non-Los Angeles County resident who traveled to Los Angeles International (LAX) airport while infectious on May 19, 2024.

In the United States, as of May 23, 2024, a total of 142 measles cases have been reported this year, which is more than double the number of cases reported in all of 2023. Furthermore, 55% of these cases required hospitalization for management of measles complications or isolation. Most of these cases have been unimmunized. There has been one confirmed measles case in Los Angeles County in 2024. Click here to read more!

Immunizations Before Summer Travel

Immunization of families heading abroad is critical to protect them against measlespertussis, and other diseases causing recent outbreaks. Recall patients who are falling behind on these vaccinations. Also, don’t forget to protect young children 6-11 months who are about to travel abroad with a recommended accelerated dose of MMR.

WHO Member States agree way forward to conclude Pandemic Agreement

The World Health Assembly (WHA) today recognized the progress made over the past two years by Member States to develop a pandemic agreement and strengthen the International Health Regulations (IHR, 2005). Governments meeting in Geneva for the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly are in talks to advance these two efforts, which aim to boost the world’s ability to better able to prevent and respond to the threat of future pandemics. Hybrid event: Advisory Committee on
Immunization Practices (ACIP) Meeting

June 26-28,2024

The ACIP holds three regular meetings each year, in addition to emergency sessions, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. The purpose is to review scientific data and vote on vaccine recommendations. Meetings are open to the public and available online via live webcast. To read more click here.
